When the cargo is very large or heavy and the cost of air transport exceeds the budget, transporting by sea in consolidated / LCL is the right option to mobilize your import or export cargo and the best of all is that you do not have to fill all the container to be able to dispatch and you pay only for what corresponds to your cargo.

It must be taken into account that when LCL or Less-than-container consolidation loads present more weight than volume, depending on the shipping company they generate a density surcharge, this also applies for pieces that measure more than 3MT / 118.11 'or that one (1) single piece weigh more than 3000kg / 6614Lb.

If your cargo is already larger on average 15-20TON / M3 - 33.069-44092, the ideal for you will be to transport it in an FCL Full container load, or also if your cargo is delicate and can be damaged or contaminated in the case of food with other products. There are different types of containers.

The types of standard containers are the most used, the refrigerated ones are used to transport goods that need temperature control such as food, the Flat Rack are for goods that measure more than 2.3 or 2.6 such as tires for special vehicles or machinery.

In order to define how to optimally transport merchandise in time and costs, we must have the following basic information available:

Depending on the origin and the HS CODE or tariff heading of the product, we will have tariff benefits by taking advantage of the different trade agreements that Colombia has signed with different countries and we will know the import requirements in Colombia.

How we are going to do it efficiently and profitably will depend on the origin and destination, the weight / volume, the time it takes for the mode of transport to make its journey and the cost of the same, if by courier, courier with change of modality, air, combined (air and sea LCL), loose cargo (LCL), container (FCL), break bulk (LCL); It will also give us what type of national transport we are going to quote and use.

The tariff heading will give us the import and export requirements at the origin and destination.

Keep in mind that the success and promptness in the provision of the service depends on you providing the complete information and on time, any delay that is generated by the lack of information or others is the responsibility of the client.

To EXPORT from COLOMBIA, the exporter must be a common regime either natural or legal person, it cannot be a simplified regime, companies are already common regime, in both cases the exporter must be authorized by the DIAN to act as 'Customs User', Said authorization is registered in the RUT, box 53 obligation 10 of Customs User, and in box 54 the codes 22 and 23 of exporter and importer respectively, this authorization is requested before the DIAN and it does not have any cost nor does it represent additional obligations. Ecuador and Brazil are also complex destinations for the shipment of clothing, so it is also necessary to verify import restrictions and requirements before shipment.
